Location: Netzer Room, Christian County Library
Local historian and popular speaker Wayne Glenn will discuss his research for his latest book, Nixa as Mayberry in 1960. The Andy Griffith Show premiered on CBS Television in the fall of 1960. Folks around Nixa must have really loved the series since it was set in Nixa or should we say Mayberry! We know Andy, Barney, Aunt Bea and Opie all lived in the mythical town of Mayberry, North Carolina. But it could just as easily have been Nixa, Missouri--the home of Sucker Day. In this volume, the author takes everyone back to 1960 when Nixa had a population of less than 1,000 and everyone knew everyone else's face, name and business.
